Customizable templates, branded document URLs, outstanding service

Our non-profit organization purchased the Tier 4 version of Xtensio.

Very happy with what it offers and what it can do.

Xtensio offers a very wide range of practical templates that can be used for any project -- whether for-profit or non-profit.

Customization is easy and versatile.

It even allows us (at Tier 4) to create our own templates for our members and colleagues, exactly as we want them in content, format, and style.

Xtensio-created "documents" (called "folios") can be presented as slide shows.
Our documents/folios can be published to our chosen custom domain which helps promote our "brand".

The documentation and knowledge-base provides enormously helpful, well-explained information on the function and value of each kind of template, which is an education in itself, as we've discovered many types of documents/folios that we hadn't thought of using, and now see the value in doing so.

Xtensio's support people -- including Alper, the founder of Xtensio -- have been truly outstanding. Responsive, clear, helpful, patient, friendly.

Our organization's president hopped on a videoconference call with Alper to get some clarification on how we might use Xtensio and after the call was full of praise for both Alper and the Xtensio platform, commenting: "Very focused and dedicated to excellence".

This sort of platform is new to us, so we don't have a point of comparison. But we're confident it's going to help enhance both the communication and development of ideas and clarity of thought and planning.

Top-notch platform run by top-notch people.

Five tacos, easily.

Limited Yet Promising

Xtensio is marketed as a versatile and collaborative platform for creating business documents, but it falls short in several key areas that limit its overall utility and effectiveness. Here’s a detailed review:
Pros:
1. Ease of Use: The interface is clean, intuitive, and beginner-friendly, making it a good starting point for individuals unfamiliar with more complex design or document tools.
2. Aesthetic Templates: The pre-designed templates are visually appealing and can add a professional touch to basic presentations, reports, and other documents.
3. Online Accessibility: Being cloud-based, users can access their work from any device with an internet connection.
Cons:
1. Limited Functionalities: Xtensio provides only a narrow range of features, which can be frustrating for users looking for advanced tools for customizing and managing documents. Simple functionalities like advanced formatting or integrations with other tools are conspicuously missing.
2. Restricted Document Management: While Xtensio supports the creation of certain types of documents, it struggles to handle diverse file formats or complex workflows. For users who need to manage and edit multiple document types, the tool lacks flexibility and scalability.
3. Export Limitations: A significant drawback is the inability to export documents directly to widely used formats like Microsoft Word or PowerPoint. This lack of compatibility creates a barrier for users who need seamless integration into existing workflows.
4. Collaboration Concerns: Although the platform markets itself as a collaborative tool, the licensing structure does not genuinely support team collaboration. Users cannot efficiently share and co-edit documents in real time without facing restrictions, which undermines the tool’s core promise.
5. Cost vs. Value: Considering its limitations, the pricing model can feel steep, especially for businesses seeking a robust solution for document creation and collaboration. More features and greater flexibility are available in similarly priced alternatives.
Suggestions for Improvement:
To live up to its potential and compete effectively in the market, the Xtensio team should consider the following enhancements:
• Expand functionalities to include advanced formatting and editing tools.
• Improve document management to handle more file types and workflows.
• Add export options to formats like Word and PowerPoint for greater compatibility.
• Revisit the collaboration model and license terms to enable real-time, unrestricted teamwork.
• Offer tiered pricing models that reflect the current feature set, catering better to different user needs.
Final Verdict:
Xtensio is a promising tool with a sleek design and simplicity at its core, but it is held back by limited capabilities and a lack of collaborative freedom. While it works for basic tasks, it needs significant improvements to become a truly competitive solution. For now, it’s best suited for individual users or small teams with minimal requirements.

A unique tool - What I always wish PPT and Word could be

The drag-and-drop precision is a feature that I always wanted in commonplace tools like Word or PowerPoint.
The amount of detailed and diverse templates is a great way to not only develop your business for yourself or clients is competitive with even the most well-established juggernauts of the industry.

It is like having a website, VSL, pitch-deck, note taking, idea generation tool all in one. All with a fully customizable interface.

Will use Extensio a lot

I got Tier 4, because i will use the app a lot for:
- Business proposals, pitch decks
- Custom project management pages for clients, from proposal to finished project

The main advantages are the various possibilities to share, embed, and customize. The templates are nice to get ideas, but i prefer start from scratch. Invitation and team work is central - would love to see custom design Style Guides for each individual workspace, and also handling of uploaded media files with folders / related to workspaces.

I'm looking forward the coming integrations (Notion, Airtable etc), some adjustments (for mobile / responsive), and other minor details that are normal at this stage. I'm very confident that Alper and his team will continuously improve Xtensio - i had a meeting with him, and he is committed to bring the best value for his users, you can feel that.

I will get a good ROI of this app in 2025 !

Review of Xtensio - Capabilities and Limitations

Xtensio is a versatile platform designed for creating professional documents, presentations, and web pages without requiring advanced design skills. The user-friendly drag-and-drop interface allows for easy incorporation of dynamic elements like tables, charts, and lists. Xtensio provides over 200 fully customizable templates, making it accessible for various professional needs. Despite these strengths, the platform's block-based system can restrict flexibility, ensuring that designs remain responsive and consistently branded across devices.

The platform supports real-time collaboration, enabling teams and clients to work together efficiently within shared workspaces. It also ensures brand consistency with tools for creating brand guides and sharing live document links. However, Xtensio lacks AI features that could enhance user experience, such as smart design suggestions or automatic content analysis.

Notable challenges include the absence of a dedicated mobile app, which limits on-the-go feedback capabilities, and delays in customer support responses via chat and email. The white-label solution offered by Xtensio requires users to switch back to the platform for edits and republication under a custom domain, which may not justify the cost difference between pricing tiers.

Initial hands-on experience with Xtensio reveals usability issues such as suboptimal text responsiveness and an outdated user interface, suggesting that further refinements are needed to fully meet professional standards. Despite these challenges, Xtensio remains a robust tool with significant potential, offering features like real-time sharing analytics and user privacy controls that are relevant for businesses.

Thank you for your thoughtful and detailed review! I’m glad you see the versatility Xtensio offers for professional documents, collaboration, and brand consistency.

You’re correct that the block-based system prioritizes responsive layouts and ease of use over pixel-perfect control, helping users create polished designs without advanced skills.

AI features, a mobile app, and UI improvements are...
